About Me

This is me In Florence last year! (2024).png

Hey! I'm so glad you're here!

I’m Lily Rulla.

I’m a 22-year-old Italian Australian who has lived in Adelaide her whole life. Now, while that might not make me sound too interesting, let me assure you that my family is. My grandparents, Lou and Edda, migrated to Australia from Italy when they were 20 years old. They first lived in Melbourne before finally settling in Adelaide and starting their family. They had 3 kids, one boy and two girls, one of whom is my mum, Anna. I have 3 cousins one of which is only 5 months older than me and I think of more as a sister and best friend as I, myself and am only child (and I promise not one of those only children who are spoilt, and you can tell is an only child, I am very much an “no way you’re an only child” child).

Stories Over Spaghetti is a labour of love; it’s meant to feel like an old family photo album and stories around the dinner table of the ‘good old days’. My family has influenced the person I’ve grown up to be, and I think that is an amazing experience that everyone should have. They are so warm and full of love. My Nonnies (that’s what I call my grandparents) are especially set in their ways, which is adorable. I want to bring all of that to you through their stories, photos, recipes and how it felt for my mum and me to grow up as second and third generation Italians. Yes, our cooking is delicious, but it is so much more than that, and I think everyone deserves a little bit of Nonna’s love… and pasta.

So, follow along, subscribe to never miss a story and follow my Instagram and Facebook for real-time Rulla content. I promise you will leave feeling so full ;)
